Mumbai: Man forces self on girl in Bhandup; held

Mumbai: A 38 year-old man was arrested on Monday afternoon from Bhandup for forcing himself on a four-year-old girl in Mulund on Monday afternoon. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC for kidnapping and POCSO Act for sexual assault. According to police, the accused picked up the girl from Bhandup and took her in a rickshaw to Mulund where at a secluded place, he allegedly tried to establish physical relations.

The locals spotted the man and suspected something fishy. They alerted the police and rescued the girl. After the police were informed, the accused was tracked down in a slum and arrested by Mulund police. Shripad Kale, senior inspector of Mulund police station said, “We have registered a Zero FIR and transferred the case to Bhandup police station, where the incident took place. Bhandup police will be investigating the matter further.” —Staff Reporter
