Bombay High Court directs Central Railway to demolish 186 religious structures near railway tracks

Mumbai: After the Bombay High Court directed the Central Railway to demolish all the unauthorised religious places next to railway area, the CR has compiled a list of around 186 religious structure that have come up along the railway tracks, station area and other railway properties, including housing colonies in Mumbai division.

A senior railway official of CR said that even the BMC has requested railway authorities to demolish these structures. “We have put out a list of these structure as the high court has ordered demolition of all the unauthorised religious places,” added the official. CR has published the list of these structures in newspapers and appealed those associated with the functioning of these places to submit their request or objections. Official said most of the structures are in Kurla, including the railway housing colony, in Workshop and also close to the government railway police.
