Mumbai’s prominent consumer body Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP) has figured out some loopholes in the Maharashtra Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, they have also written a letter to the secretary of Ministry of Housing and Poverty Alleviation about it.
The central government is requested in the letter to make amendments to RERA to restructure its provisions. MGP has asked the government to consider building, wihtout certain sanctioned plans, to register with MahaRERA if they have created third party rights like selling to homebuyers.
As per a report in DNA the MGP also highlighted that several developers since they do not have certain sanctioned building plans and are thus not bound to register their projects. According to the Act, the developer should approve building plans and commencement certificates to register the projects in MahaRERA.
