Mumbai: Finally, Mumbaikars groove to hit singles of David Guetta

After a lot of hurdles over approvals, the famous David Guetta concert finally took place at BKC

Mumbai: The Sunburn Arena David Guetta concert finally entertained fans with a mix of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and House music on Sunday afternoon at Reliance Jio Gardens in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The event  faced major blocks and was rescheduled at the last minute from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon due to lack of permissions from the Mumbai Police.

The Grammy Award winning French DJ (Disc Jockey), David Guetta, played his collection of music for one and a half hour as he had to perform at Delhi later that evening. Though the afternoon sun drenched the crowd, Guetta made them groove to the tune of his hit singles like Titanium, I Gotta Feeling, Little Bad Girl and When Love Takes Over.

As this event had faced a lot of hurdles, Guetta addressed the audience and said, “Finally, I am happy that this show happened. I want to thank all the people of Mumbai and India for making this show happen.”

Around 3,000 people attended the event and over 500 police personnel were deployed to manage security for the show. Priya Ghosh, a middle-aged woman from Powai said, “The event would have been better if it was in the evening as it was tiring to dance in the sun. But the music kept us going and our ticket money did not go waste after we heard that Friday’s show was cancelled.”

The ticket costs Rs 2,500 to 4000 and after the Friday event was canceled people were agitated and wanted their money back. Rahul Karvat, a college student said, “I am glad that they rescheduled the event as I had paid Rs 3,000 for the ticket and I wanted to witness Guetta live.”

The 52-feet long and 34-feet broad stage was constructed overnight. A senior member of Percept, the organising company of the event, told the Free Press Journal, “The crowd has been deteriorating a bit as compared to previous years but despite a Sunday afternoon and last-minute rescheduling we still managed to draw decent numbers due to David Guetta.”

This event had faced opposition from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) due to lack of permissions as it was initially supposed to be hosted at the Mahalaxmi Race Course.

David Guetta’s Bengaluru concert on Thursday was also cancelled due to law and order issues. However, Guetta performed at Hyderabad on Saturday and in Mumbai and Delhi on Sunday.
