Mumbai: It was a usual day for the Thak family and Lalit had just dropped his son for tuitions and returned home. The moment he returned, he got the shock of his life when he saw his wife – Amruta (40), his old mother along with his three-month-old daughter – all trapped under a huge debris. For Lalit, his entire life was shaken after his home that was in a four-storey building, had fallen down like a pack of cards.

Lalit – a resident of Siddhi Sai building located in the busy Damodar Park area in Ghatkopar, lost his mother, daughter, and wife within a second, when the 35-year-old building suddenly collapsed. Renuka, the baby who had arrived in the Thak family merely three months before, died when she fell down and got trapped in the debris.

Her mother Amruta was carrying her and tried to run out of the building but her bid was foiled by a slab that hit her on a head. The minor child was removed from the debris nearly after an hour and was rushed to the nearest civic-run hospital. Unfortunately, the child was declared brought dead. Lalit lost his mother and wife too.
