On Friday, Bhiwandi Police arrested a man for allegedly murdering and kidnapping a 14-year-old boy. The boy was the son of frozen meat dealer in Bhiwandi, and was killed after the kidnappers panicked as they came to know that the family had approached the police.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the deceased boy was identified as Bilal Shakil Qureshi, son of Shakil Qureshi. The accused killed the boy hours after kidnapping him on Sunday after they panicked learning that the family approached the cops. The boy’s body was found near Ovali village on the Mumbai-Nashik highway and was disfigured to avoid identification. On Friday, cops arrested Bhiwandi resident Wahid Ali Ansari (20). The cops are currently also on the lookout for a minor.
The minor, according to the police, worked at one of Shakil Qureshi’s shops and had seen Qureshi with wads of cash. A police officer told the leading daily, “Qureshi was renovating one of his shops and hence was carrying wads of cash with him. The boy must have seen him with the money.”
The kidnapping took place on Sunday. The trio kidnapped Bilal in an auto rickshaw from his father’s shop in Bhiwandi’s Vitthal Nagar area. After Shakil Qureshi realised that his son is missing, he went to cops immediately. The cops registered a case and started a manhunt. But when Shakil Qureshi returned home, he received a call and the kidnappers (trio) demanded Rs 5 lakh.
An officer told the leading daily, “When the accused called Qureshi, he immediately passed the phone to one of our men. They may have panicked after this and decided to kill the boy to get rid of anything which may later link them to it.” The police further added that accused strangled Bilal and disfigured his face with a large stone and dumped his body near Ovali village.
