Mumbai Crime: Man rapes 17-year-old niece, takes her to hospital

The Gamdevi Police arrested a 47-year-old man for allegedly raping his 17-year-old niece. The girl approached Jaslok Hospital alleging she had been sexually assaulted by her uncle.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the 17-year-old girl works for three sisters who own a private firm and reside at Pedder Road. The girl’s uncle works as a cook for the three sisters. The incident took place on Saturday when the three women were abroad. The girl was brought to Mumbai from West Bengal by her uncle to work. She came to Mumbai last month as a helper.

A police official from Gamdevi police station told the leading daily, “On Saturday when the sisters had gone to New York, he allegedly pulled her to a bathroom and raped her, after which she started bleeding.” After he saw her bleeding, he rushed her to Jaslok Hospital. When doctors checked her the authorities informed Gamdevi police station. Later, a complaint was lodged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) against the man and he was arrested.
