On Saturday, the Bandra police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping his 31-year-old colleague for over a period of six years. The accused apparently made false promise to marry the woman.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the woman came to know that the man cheated after she checked his Facebook profile where he had uploaded his marriage photos, following which she registered a complaint with the Bandra police.
The accused is a resident of Bandra West and the complainant is resident of Andheri. They both met at workplace back in 2011, where they became friends and later fell in love. The accused then proposed to marry her and invited her to meet his parents. After the complainant got acquainted with his parents, she had said that her mother was suffering from an illness, she would marry him, once she recovered.

She was often invited to the accused’s residence, where he forced her to have a physical relationship with him. He maintained a physical relationship from 2012 to 2015, and later broke up, and blocked her number. After this, she met his father who patched them up. The accused then too continued to rape her, until recently he dumped her. And, a few days ago, the woman checked his Facebook profile and saw his marriage photos, and decided to confront him. But she was thrown out of the house by the accused’s mother.
And then she approached Bandra police station where she registered an FIR under section 376 (2) (n) (commits rape repeatedly on a woman) of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013 and section 417 (cheating) of the IPC.
