Mumbai: The Mumbai police crime branch unit- 8 filed a chargesheet in the case of murder of activist Bhupendra Vira on Thursday. A chargesheet has been filed against ex-Corporator of Congress party Razzak Khan and his son Amjad Khan.
The crime branch officials had recovered the pistol used for the crime, 12 live cartridges and a car used for the crime from the duo. 61- year old Vira, an anti-encroachment activist was shot dead at his residence in Kalina on October 15.
The Mumbai crime branch had arrested the prime accused Razzak Khan, a former corporator and his son Amjad Khan in this murder. Both the accused are history–sheeters.
“At least 31 non cognisable cases were lodged against the ex -corporator in Vakola police station but Khan, who is said to be a local land mafia, had not stopped threatening Vira to take back the property cases lodged against him,” said said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shashikant Satav (crime branch unit-8).
Amjad has also told the crime branch officials that he had done a recce before killing Vira, who had managed to send Khan at least 175 notices for the demolition of illegal construction in Kalina area.
