Mumbai Crime: 19-year-old duped of Rs 1.06 lakh while buying iPhone X from e-commerce website

A 19-year-old second-year degree student from Khar was duped of Rs 1.06 lakh while trying to purchase five iPhone X. The 19-year-old was trying to purchase 5 iPhones from a seller operating on a Chinese multinational e-commerce website.

According to Hindustan Times, the victim stays with his mother, who is a college teacher, in Khar. The 19-year-old wanted to iPhone X mobiles in wholesale and sell them in retail. The victim got in touch with the with the cyber fraudster through an e-commerce website. The cyber fraudster posed as Richard Alwin, after which two exchanged email IDs and phone numbers.

And then the accused Alwin asked the complainant to transfer money several times. Later when the fraudster asked for more money the victim realised that he has been duped, and he also realised that the transfers had all been made to different bank accounts in Bangalore and Madhya Pradesh. The victim then approached Khar police who registered an FIR against the fraudster and are now probing the matter.
