Bhiwandi: A shocking incident came to light on Wednesday, wherein a 24-year-old rape survivor was again raped by the police officer, who was investigating her case. The accused police officer attached with Shantinagar police station, Bhiwandi, is said to have been absconding.
The accused identified as Rohan Gonjari, a police sub-inspector, was investigating the rape case filed by the survivor against two men and a woman, who, she alleges, have raped her and extorted money from her. According to the fresh complaint lodged against Gonjari at the Kongaon police station, he threatened the survivor of filing a false case against her.
“Gonjari was investigating my rape case. During the course of the investigation, he called me once and threatened me that he would implicate me in a criminal case and will accuse me of filing false rape complaints against the two men,” the survivor has stated in her complaint to the Kongaon police station.
“Gonjari accordingly, told me to cooperate with him and took me in a lodge at Kalyan. There, he raped me,” the survivor has told the Kongaon police. On the basis of her complaint, the police have registered a case against Gonjari under charges of rape and criminal intimidation.
According to the survivor, she was having an affair with one Satish Nakkalwar, whose former girlfriend (name withheld) was against the relationship. The former girlfriend had time and again asked the survivor to stay away from Satish, however, the survivor did not pay any heed to her threats. Subsequently, the former girlfriend, got the survivor raped by her friend Salim, who allegedly committed the offence after spiking the survivor’s drink.
“The entire incident of rape was recorded on camera by Satish’s ex-girlfriend and her friend Salim. The duo then started blackmailing me and extorted at least Rs 43,000 from me. Later, I learnt that Satish was also involved in all this,” the survivor has claimed in her FIR, which was being probed by Gonjari.
