Mumbai: Brothers arrested for killing girl’s boyfriend in Govandi

Mumbai: Two brothers were by Shivaji Nagar Police for the murder of a 26-year-old youth on Thursday morning. The victim had been in a relationship with the sister of the accused. They had asked him to stay away from their sister, because of the difference in their social class. The family of the accused ran a garment store, while the victim was a tailor.

On Thursday morning, Shafique Rafiq Khan, 26, had visited the residence of his 17-year-old girlfriend, the sister of the two accused, at Shivaji Nagar, Govandi. The accused, Furqan Farooq Khan, 32, who resides on the first floor along with his wife was sleeping in the bedroom, while his sister and brother, the other accused Imran Farooq Khan, 30, were on the ground floor. Imran heard their sister chatting with someone inside inside their flat on the ground floor. He immediately alerted Furqan about Shafique being in their house.
Furqan immediately rushed downstairs.

In a fit of rage, Shafique and Furqan hurled abuses at Shafique and kicked him in his private parts, hit him near his right ear and punched him in the stomach. Later, Furqan hit Shafique with a wooden stool. Shafique collapsed on the floor, bleeding profusely and died. A neighbour, who had heard Shafique crying out for help, immediately alerted police about the incident. Shafique’s body has been taken to Rajawadi Hospital at Ghatkopar for post mortem. According to Suhas Kamble, police inspector, Shivaji Nagar Police, “The two brothers were arrested from their residence. We had received a phone call from the control room regarding the murder.
