Mumbai: Vile Parle police has arrested three men for assaulting an Air Traffic Control (ATC) official on Sunday night, after he stopped them from drinking at New Airport Colony. The ATC official, Akshat Mahilwal, 30, and the colony’s security guard, were later treated in Nanavati Hospital.

According to police, a few residents of the Bamanwada slums were celebrating a friend’s birthday in New Airport Colony on Sunday night. The group was consuming liquor and creating a nuisance. Probe is on,” said investigating officer, Dnyaneshwar Ganore. On Sunday night, ATCs gathered at the Sahar Road office, wearing black bands to protest the attack on Mahilwal and demanded better security and police patrolling.
