Ujjain: on the other hand, exercise to finalise bjp candidates also reached acme. According to reports, party’s cec is meeting in delhi at 4 pm on thursday to finalise candidates. All prominent figures of the state including shivraj singh chauhan, narendra singh tomar, rakesh singh, suhas bhagat along with state in-charge vice-president vinay sahastrabuddhe have been camping in delhi for last two days. But in bjp too, announcement of candidates on 230 seats will be made in installments and the first list may be announced by late thursday. Announcements of names of candidates on 50 seats of malwa region including 29 seats of ujjain division are likely to be delayed. The party had won 28 seats last time.
Close watch on developments
reports suggest that the party leadership wants to keep close watch on the announcement of tickets by the congress. Besides, huge pressure mounted by competitors on at least 10 to 15 seats of the division has also forced the state leadership to prepare panels comprising two to three names each. Sources said that such panels were also formed for four seats of ujjain district– ujjain south, mahidpur, ghattiya and barnagar. Besides the names of sitting mlas mohan yadav, bahadur singh chouhan, satish malviya and mukesh pandya names of iqbal singh gandhi, lal singh ranavat, ram singh solanki and shantilal dhabai, respectively, have been prominently figured in the panels. Names of energy minister paras jain from ujjain north, sitting mlas dilip singh shekhawat from nagda-khachrod and anil firojiya from tarana have been reportedly given green signals.
amit shah meanwhile, sources said that nothing can be said about the decision of bjp national president amit shah. “one can guess about shah’s decision, but nobody can say with surety about his decision,” commented an observer adding that shah would give weightage to the names recommended by state election committee, but he will have final say and there may be some surprises in the list.
