Mount Mary fair: Traffic restricted

Mumbai : This year the Mount Mary Fair which begins from Sunday is expected to have a footfall of about 4 to 5 lakh devotees. In order to ensure smooth traffic movement, the traffic department has laid down certain restrictions.

There will be heavy pedestrian crossing as well as vehicular movement on Lilavati junction, Mahim Causeway junction, S.V. Road, Hill Road, Turner Road, Linking Road and Sea Link. The traffic will be moving slow on these roads during the entire fair from September 11 till September 18.

There will be One Way restrictions at  Dhondopant R. Varaskar Marg, Bandra station road (W) shall be “One Way” from Bandra railway station up to its junction with S V Road between  6 a.m. to 11 p.m. ‘No Entry’ ‘No Left Turn’ ‘No Right Turn’ on this road from S V Road junction.

Hill Road, Bandra (W) shall be ‘One Way’ from its junction with S V Road between 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. i.e ‘No Entry’ on Hill Road from St. Paul Road and no entry towards east Hill Road from all the roads making junctions with Hill road. Only BEST buses can ply from B.J. Road upto Mehboob studio from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Master Vinayak road, Perry Road shall be ‘One Way’ from its junction with St. Paul Road upto its junction with Manuel Gonsalves Road near Hong Kong bank junction.

Gurunanak Road at Turner Road shall be ‘One Way’ from its junction with Manuel Gonsalves Road  upto Bandra railway station between 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. i.e. ‘No Entry’ from Bandra railway station side. Mount Mary Road will be closed for all types of vehicles except vehicles of local residents issued with car passes by police and emergency vehicles from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Kane Road will be ‘One Way’ for all types of vehicles except vehicles of local residents issued with car passes by police and emergency vehicles from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Pereira Road will be ‘One Way’ from east to west i.e. ‘No Entry’ from B.J. Road. St. John Baptist Road shall be closed for all vehicular traffic except for local residents issued with special passes from 6 a.m to 11 p.m. Right turn will be permitted from Dhondopant Varaskar Road i.e. Bandra station road to S.V. Road.

There will be ‘No Entry’ at Mount Mary Road, Kane Road, Chapel Rroad and Saint John Baptist Road. Parking will be permitted at Behramji Jijibhai Road, Band Stand and Supari Tank ground.
