Mission 2019: BJP kicks off meetings of state-wise MPs

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Thursday kicked off a fortnight-long consultations with the party MPs in both the Houses of Parliament as an exercise to prepare for “Mission 2019” of winning the Lok Sabha elections.
There shall be eight such meetings in the evenings from 6 to 8 PM or from 8 to 10 PM, the last one with the MPs from Rajasthan on January 3, the party sources said, pointing out that Shah has directed the state in-charge ministers to participate in these meetings to discuss with the MPs on the reach of the central schemes and programmes and their implementation.

Shah will himself attend most of these meetings to have a feel of the ground realities from the party MPs while PM Modi may turn up at some of the meetings.  These meetings will also review the performance of the MPs and what all they have done to advance and popularise the central schemes as Amit Shah is banking on the Modi government’s performance to win the elections.  The MPs from Uttar Pradesh, that sent the highest 71 out of 80 MPs of BJP and allies in 2014, have been divided into three groups for an intense discussion on December 26 and 27 and Prime Minister Modi is expected to attend at leasst one of these meetings.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will conduct all three meetings, the first of MPs from Western UP from 6 to 8 PM on December 26, followed by second meeting of the central UP MPs from 8 to 10 PM.  The third meeting of the eastern UP MPs will be on December 27 from 6 to 8 PM, which will be also attended by union minister Manoj Sinha, who was tipped to be the Chief Minister until Yogi Adityanath got the post.

The same day on December 27, Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will be taking a meeting of the Bihar MPs from 8 to 10 PM. On December 28, union minister Thawarchand Gehlot will conduct the meetings with the MPs from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. There shall be two meetings on January 2 while the last two meetings will be on January 3, the first with the MPs from Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Northeastern states and the second with MPs from Rajasthan.
