Mercury on the rise, heat wave makes day life miserable

Maximum temp 41.4 degrees Celsius

Indore : After a short relief from scorching heat, mercury again soared over 41 degrees Celsius on Saturday, making daily courses tough for the citizens. Heat waves multiplied the woes of people as the soaring temperature and blazing heat made it hard for the people to move out in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, officials of meteorological department have forecast that heatwave will continue to sweep the state in coming days.

Roads wore a barren look in noon as people kept themselves confined indoors and only those who had emergency work moved out of the house or offices.

However, denizens couldn’t avoid the weekend celebration and rushed to the markets in evening.

According to Met officials, maximum temperature on Saturday was 41.4 degrees Celsius which stuck at the normal temperature while the minimum temperature was 24.5 degrees Celsius which was one degree Celsius above normal.

“Winds blowing from north to southward direction will take its toll on night temperature more and heat waves coming from neighboring states can push the temperature up in coming days,” weathermen said.

The humidity recorded on Saturday morning was 25 per cent and 13 per cent in the evening.

With the increase of temperature, residents of various areas in the city are facing water scarcity and poor water supply by the municipal corporation has multiplied their woes. Water works incharge of Indore Municipal Corporation Balram Verma claimed that they have ample amount of water tankers to meet the needs of the city. He said the corporation started water supply through few water tankers and the number will be increased if required.
