Mumbai: A 32 year-old man murdered his wife on Monday night and committed suicide early morning on Tuesday, the police said.
The deceased, identified as Nitin Fundkar, was a driving instructor by profession and gave training in a local motor training school.
Nitin had married Surekha Fundkar (32) nine years back. The Fundkar couple had an eight year-old daughter, Samiksha and a six year-old son, Yuvraj. The couple lived in Kandivali’s Hanuman Nagar area. It is learnt that Nitin doubted Surekha’s character and they both often indulge in fights over this.
On Monday night, after returning from work, Nitin and Surekha had a quarrel. Following a heated argument, Nitin killed Surekha by slitting her throat with a kitchen knife and later, committed suicide by hanging himself. Throughout the incident, the couple’s children were at home.
On Tuesday morning, both the children ran out of their house and went to a relative who too lives in the same area. Samata Nagar police rushed to the spot on being informed and have registered the statements of the children and have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC.
