Mumbai: On Saturday, one boy drowned at Versova beach in Andheri (W). Two other boys, who had ventured into the sea along with the deceased, have reportedly gone missing. The incident took place at 2:40 pm on Saturday afternoon. Rohit Tiwari ( 27), Priyank Yadav ( 25) and Satya Prasad Chavan ( 25) had visited the beach to celebrate Tiwari’s birthday. During the search operation by the lifeguards, Yadav’s body was discovered.
According to Kiran Kale, Senior Police Inspector, Versova Police station “The three boys had visited the beach during high tide. They were consuming alcohol at the beach while hiding behind the rocks. The lifeguards had requested them to leave since frequenting at the beach during high tide was a risky affair. The boys left after being reprimanded since they did not pay any heed at first. Later, the boys reappeared at the site after sometime.”
“Rohit Tiwari, Priyank Yadav and Satya Prasad Chavan reappeared at the beach when the lifeguards had gone for patrolling. The boys ventured into the sea. The lifeguards immediately dived into the sea but only Priyank Yadav’s body was found. He was immediately rushed to Cooper hospital but was declared dead on arrival.The search operation of the other boys is still on.” said Kale
Tiwari, Yadav and Chavan are natives of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. Yadav and Chavan had come to Mumbai to celebrate Tiwari’s birthday.
Tiwari was residing at Four Bungalows at Versova.
