Maharashtra: Police lathi charge NCP workers during CM fadnavis’ tour at Jalna

Mumbai: Workers of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) went to give a letter to the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was on a tour to Jalna. However, the police stopped the NCP workers who had gone to hand over the letter, at the District Collectorate. Workers of and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) shouted slogans at the same time. CM was in Jalna to take an overview of the drought.

There was an exchange of words between the police and NCP workers, with the police pushing with a mild lathi charge. This incident occurred during this meeting at Jalna. Workers were sitting outside the collectorate office, demanding Rs 50,000 immediate assistance per hectare for the farmers. The workers wanted to discuss with the CM about other demands too, after being pushed out, they waited at the gate for an opportunity to meet the CM.

fter the altercation with the workers, police detained nearly 20 workers of SSS. Meanwhile, some lawyers also protested, as the police had stopped the car of the district magistrate. The police were on their way to the district collectorate. The district court is on the same road and his car was stopped. No work of the court could not be conducted due to the CM tour. Lawyers questioned, was this meeting to take an overview of the drought or to trouble common people?
