Ujjain : The two remaining Sanyasi akharas Mahanirvani and Atal akhara performed the Dharmdhwaja poojan ceremony here.

Mahanirvani akhara with Atal hoist Dharmdhwaja for Simhastha

Out of seven Sanyasi akharas, these two were remaining and on Tuesday the ceremony was performed with much religious fervour in both akhara. However huge difference was visible in both the akharas. It was all glitter at the Mahanirvani, whereas it was lacklustre at Atal akhara. Traditional customs were followed at both the akharas, with priests performing Vedic rituals before and after the hoisting of flag. At Mahanirvani akhara huge tent was erected in welcome of guests. Even the guests including representatives of 13 akharas, district In-charge minister Bhupendra Singh along with top brass remained till end in the programme, leaving the programme after taking Halwa Prasadi. Shri Mahant Prakash Puri, Ganga Sagar Bharti, Daya Puri and others remained present. In twist of turns a Sanyasi Harishankar sustained minor injury in his left leg during the flag hoisting and was shifted to hospital.

At Atal Akhara it was all lacklustre and even the minister did not even cared to remain present till flag erection. It was all formality by the politicos and officers to the Atal akhara and each of them left without even taking the Prasad. Atal akhara faced most apathy from corner of Simhastha mela authorities. The cantonment area of the akhara was so small that it could not even accommodate the band parties called by Mahant Uday Giri and Prem Giri on the occasion.
