Indore: Lok Sabha Speaker and local MP Sumitra Mahajan has said that under the Smart City project there will be a plan for over bridges to reduce traffic congestion.

Mahajan was addressing a review meeting of Smart City Project held here on Thursday. She said that under the Smart City project some roads have to be built in the central area of the city which would help in getting rid of traffic congestion. But at the same time we should build over bridges also. Mahajan further said: “We should draft plans as per need of next 40 to 50 years.

There is no shortage of money for any project from the Centre as well as state government. If it’s felt that somewhere shortage of money may affect the project in future then we must undertake initiatives from right now.

Referring about increasing size of the city from all corners, she said that Super Corridor and airport are located in the western part of the city and if entire traffic flows through two prominent roads of the city, then traffic jam would grip the central part of the city. While developing the city as a smart one, people’s settlement should also be taken care of. Space for parking should also be earmarked, she added.
