NEW DELHI : The All-India Lawyers’ Union on Tuesday urged Delhi High Court Chief Justice Ms G Rohini to take suo moto action against the lawyers of a particular ideology and others beating up journalists and JNU students and teachers in Patiala Courts complex here on Monday.

In a memorandum to the Chief Justice as head of the judiciary in the capital, the union said those who resorted to violence and obstruction to administration of justice should be appropriately dealt with for committing the contempt of court.

“Their acts tantamount to obstruction in administration of Justice and violation of rule of law which are corner stone of our Constitution,” the union said.  It also urged the Chief Justice to direct the Delhi Police Commissioner to take appropriate action against the police personnel guilty of dereliction of duty in not preventing the violence on the court premises.
