Lalu leaves for Ranchi, Nitish for Rajgir as Meira Kumar arrives

Patna : Bihar chief minister and JDU president Nitish Kumar made an unscheduled departure from Patna to tourist place-Rajgir in Nalanda district, 125 kms from here and RJD president Lalu Prasad left for Ranchi as UPA’s candidate for Presidential election, Meira Kumar arrived here on Thursday afternoon.

Meira Kumar, a former Speaker of Lok Sabha, had sought an appointment with the chief minister who had cancelled his engagements for the last two days as his office claimed he was down with fever. He left for Rajgir on an unscheduled visit hours before Meira arrived here.

Lalu left for Ranchi by a commercial flight to attend the court proceedings in a special CBI court. Meira Kumar was received at the airport by AICC general secretary in-charge of Bihar, C P Joshi, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Chaudhury and Congress legislature party leader Sadanand Singh. She is expected to address a joint meeting of the legislators of the Congress and RJD at a posh hotel opposite Gandhi Maidan in the evening.
