Kids have lucky escape as tree falls on bus

Bhayandar : Fifty-four students and a couple of staffers of a Thane-based private school had a narrow escape after a huge tree keeled over and fell on the bus in which they were travelling for a picnic to EsselWorld on Saturday.

According to the police the incident was reported near Dongri-Talavali village on the Gorai Road in Bhayandar at around 10 am.

The students of Nav Daya English School were headed for a picnic to EsselWorld, when one the three buses met with the mishap leaving the front windshield glass completely shattered.

While the driver sustained minor bruises, all other occupants were fortunate to escape unscathed.  All the students were accommodated in the other two buses.

Police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and cut the tree into pieces, which were removed from the road with the help of local villagers.

However, the incident lead to an hour-long traffic jam on the Gorai Road.
