Fourth semester exam results to be out in three to four days, second semester results expected next month
INDORE: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya on Tuesday announced plans to hold first and fifth semester exams of conventional undergraduate courses in the last week of November.
Exam controller Ashesh Tiwari said the university has decided to commence first and fifth semester exams of BA, BCom, BSc and BHSc in the last week of November and third semester exams in December.
He said that fourth semester exams results which are awaited for past four months would be announced in three to four days while second semester exams results would be released next month.
As per exam calendar, odd semester exams (first, third and fifth semesters) are to be conducted in November and their results be announced by December end. The DAVV have to breach the calendar as it had failed to announce second and fourth semester exams results as yet.
Second and fourth semester exams were held in May and June. Since, nearly four months have passed but the results could not be declared. Tiwari held slow evaluation work responsible for delay in results.
He stated that principals of many colleges kept answer books with them for nearly two months and returned them without evaluation hiding behind the excuse that they could not get subject experts for evaluation work. “Had the principals returned the answer books immediately after allocation of the same, the results would have not been delayed so long,” he said.
As per exam calendar, odd semester exams (I, III & V sems) are to be conducted in Nov and their results be announced by December end.
Answer books to examiners are allocated through college principals. Principals of colleges in Barwani, Khandwa, Khargone and Dhar reportedly returned unchecked answer books about a month back stating that they could not find subject teachers for evaluation of answer books.
This prompted the university to send the answer books to other places for evaluation.
“The evaluation of answer books of fourth semester exams is over and we are going to announce results in three to four days,” he said.
Even if it declares fourth semester exams results by October end, then also the university would not be able to conduct fifth semester exams in the first four weeks of November. Reason? The university would have to give at least 15 days to students to file for review of their results and the review would then take at least one month of time. After that, DAVV would hold fifth semester exams.
“The review results of fourth semester exams may not come before Dec 15 so we have to allow students to take fifth semester exams on an undertaking that their fifth semester exams should be made null and void if their review results do not change positively,” Tiwari said.
