Iqbal Kaskar and aides sent to Thane central jail by court

Thane: Iqbal Kaskar and his two aides have been sent to Thane central jail after a holiday court on Sunday sent them to judicial custody till October 13. Kaskar, Israr and Mumtaz are the three accused arrested in extortion cases by the anti-extortion cell of Thane.

Kaskar, the younger brother of fugitive gangster Dawood, was arrested on September 18 from Mumbai. His police custody got over on Sunday. He and his aides were produced in court and sent to judicial custody for the next 13 days. During their police custody, officials from anti-extortion cell managed to gather information about the gang’s financier Pankaj Gangar who allegedly provided funds for various activities like extortion, threats and murder. He was arrested from Borivali and is currently in police custody which will end on Monday.

Meanwhile, Kaskar is reportedly providing new information every day, according to officials at the anti-extortion cell. During interrogation, Kaskar admitted to having conversation with Dawood and also revealed the names of others in his gang. There are some more members of the gang yet to be arrested and therefore, for further investigation, the public prosecutor demanded more days of police custody. The court refused it, but sent the trio to judicial custody till October 13.
