Indore: City crime branch on Sunday arrested a person for allegedly spreading rumor about farmers’ strike by posting an old video on Facebook. During the farmers’ strike, DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra has instructed the crime branch to keep an eye on antisocial elements who are planning to spread rumors by posting objectionable posts, messages about the strike on social media.

After the instruction, ASP (crime) Amarendra Singh had constituted a team to keep a watch on such activities. The team was keeping an eye on social media sites when it was found that a person named Jai Singh Bhusariya had posted false and objectionable posts on a social media site. He had posted an old video of farmers’ strike stating that it is a recent incident during strike.

During investigation it was found that the Facebook ID was registered on the name of Bhusariya and he is a resident of Palda area in the city. After verification, the crime branch along with Bhanwarkuan police station team raided Bhusariya’s place and arrested him. Accused told the police that he had received a link in a WhatsApp group in which he had joined.

He had received an old video of farmers’ strike from there. The video was about the clash between farmers and police during the strike a few months ago. Accused had posted the video on Facebook with the intention to spread violence. The accused has been handed over to Bhanwarkuan police station for further action. The police have appealed that do not post or share any objectionable or false information about farmers’ strike on the social media sites.
