Indore: Women residents of nearly 20 colonies in Sanver Road area on Friday staged a demonstration at Zone No 17 of Indore Municipal Corporation over paucity of drinking water. They claimed that the IMC had constructed an overwater head tank at Shivkanth Nagar about four years ago but the water supply from it has not been started till date.

“We have to purchase water to meet our daily needs,” said the protestors. On learning about the protest, area corporator Bhupendra Singh reached the scene and tried to pacify them but to no avail.

The IMC officials also tried in vain to pacify the protestors. It was only when the senior officials of the IMC assured of supply of water through taps shortly, the protest ended. Water has to be supplied from overhead water tank in colonies located in Ward No 18, including Shiv Nagar, Maruti Nagar, Shanti Nagar, Bhawani Nagar.
