Indore: Two held for uploading SLD certificate of ill-fated DPS bus for renewal

Indore: City cyber cell officials on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly uploading renewal certificate of Speed Limiting Device (SLD) of the ill-fated DPS bus, which met with the fatal road accident, on departmental server of MP transport department. The certificate was uploaded three days after the accident. The accused were arrested from Neemuch and are being questioned further.

SP (cyber cell) Jitendra Singh said that divisional commissioner of the transport department had lodged a complaint stating they have received renewal certificate of bus MP09-FA-2029 on January 10. After receiving the complaint, cell officials collected information from maintenance officer of the department who informed that someone had uploaded fitness details of SLD on January 8.

Sub inspector Rashid Ahmed and team started investigation and found that the detail was uploaded from the user id of Pragya Yatayat of Gwalior, after which officials registered a case under section 467, 468, 470, 471 of the IPC and 74, 66-D, 43-A of IT Act was registered against the IP Address holder. During investigation, Shyamlal Prajapat of Neemuch and his assistant Kuldeep Singh Jhala were arrested. They confessed to have uploaded the certificate on the server for renewal of SLD.

Prajapt runs an authorised agency in the name of Sanwariya Yatayat in Neemuch. The accused informed that he used to work for road tax payment, license renewal and installing SLD device in vehicles. He had reset the computer systems of his office after uploading the SLD certificate of DPS bus and was trying to sell the computer in order to destroy evidence. However, two computer systems and modem were recovered by the officials for the detailed investigation.

“It is still not cleared that who had told him to upload the certificate for the renewal of SLD. The accused are being questioned about the person who had told them to upload certificate after the accident,” SP Singh added.
