Indore : Three booked for demanding dowry

Police on Friday booked three persons for harassing a woman for dowry in Pancham Ki Phel area.

According to police, the victim Shipra Lodhwal, a resident of Bagpura Ujjain, in her complaint to Ujjain police alleged that she got married to Sunil in 2010 and one year after the marriage her husband, his brother Gajendra and her sister-in-law Premlata started demanding a bike as dowry from her. When the woman denied their demand, they started torturing her both mentally and physically. In July this year, the accused threw the woman out from their house saying if she wanted to stay there, she has to brings Rs 20,000 and a bike, police said. The victim is living with her parents in Ujjain where she reported the incident to Ujjain police where they registered a case against the accused and informed Indore police to carry forward the investigation.

In another incident, a 25-year-old woman attempted suicide by hanging self in Asrawad Khurd area on Friday. The victim Bhavna was found hanging by her relatives who immediately rushed her to MY Hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Police are taking her statement to find the exact reason behind her actions.
