Indore: You might have seen your social media handles full with the virtual campaigns run by many people to make the environment clean and green with the messages of save world from pollution, deforestation and global warming. But, least of them have truly done anything what they have been preaching.

But this 36-year-old associate professor ‘actually’ running a campaign to make the city green by planting trees everywhere and on every occasion. Whether it is birthday, marriage anniversary or any condolence meet, Kamta Prasad Tiwari alias KP tries to reach there with a sapling to plant for making the occasion memorable.

Heading Indore’s chapter of one of the oldest organisations working for clean and green environment ‘Kadam Sanstha’, KP has completed one year of his campaign of planting one sapling every week on May 14.

“All the plants that I have planted are the new family members for me. I have given them names for which it was planted. We use to plant saplings usually at those places where it has security like boundary wall and the guard or the gardener. This helps in taking care of the plants and to make them grow strong,” he said.

Kadam Sanstha was founded by Vishwanath Dubey, in 1995 at Jabalpur and currently headed by Yogendra Ganore. More than 10 lakh people across the state are the member including more than 1000 in Indore.

“We have planted lakhs of trees across the country as the campaign is running in various cities including Indore, Jabalpur, Jhanshi, Datia, Bhopal, Raipur, Agra, Chhindwara and others. We have completed 55 weeks in Indore and the count of plants we planted reached to 150,” KP said.

When it comes to his individual count of planting trees, KP has crossed the mark of 1000 trees as he had started it when he was in fifth standard.

“My father was a doctor and I had seen him talking about water conservation and plantation for the better future. He raised concern over global warming, increasing temperature of city and pollution and taught me that greenery and forestation is the only solution of these problems,” he said.

Associate profession in Indore Institute of Science and Technology, KP said that he had planted more than 400 mango saplings in my village in Jabalpur district and now it has turned into a mango farm.

KP said that it is the best way to motivate others for the same by making their day memorable with a tree plantation.
