Indore: A policeman was reportedly injured while he was trying to catch the thieves who entered the house of a businessman in Sanchar Nagar on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The thieves pelted stones on police team and fled while taking advantage of darkness. Police later searched them in the area for hours but in vain.

Thieves entered the house of Prashant Agrawal at 1.30 am. Agrawal runs sari business and was out of  city on a business trip while his wife was at her parents’ home. Three thieves entered the locked house of Agrawal. They were trying to steal valuables when one of neighbours woke up and informed the police.

After information, a team from Kanadiya police station reached the spot. Alerted, the thieves started pelting stones on police team. One of the policemen named Gangaram entered the house. As he tried to nab a thief, the latter attacked him injuring Gangaram. The thieves then jumped over the boundary wall and fled.

City Superintendent of Police SS Tomar said three thieves had entered the house of Agrawal and they managed to flee when police team reached there. The CCTV cameras installed around the spot are also being scanned to trace the accused. Agrawal was later informed by police about the incident. Police are also trying to know whether something was stolen.
