HOSHANGABAD: Shakuntala Express, seven coach passenger train runs from Amravati to Murtazapur and has completed 100 years recently; country has entered in 70th year of independence. It is quite interesting that still the Indian government is paying the royalty of Rs 1 crore 20 lakhs to British Company Click Nickson. This information has come in front of people from the letter which is written by Municipality Chairman Akhilesh Khandelwal on 9 February, to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and PM Narendra Modi. He has written in the letter that, Yawatmal to Achalpur narrow guage railway track which comes in Maharashtra state, the royalty of this track is not the proprietary right of India till now, this royalty goes to British Company still, which is shameful for the country. He demanded to take appropriate decision to transfer the proprietary right in favour of India. Indian railway got nationalization in 1951 in which this was the only route which was not possessed by Indian government. The government paid royalty of 1 crore 20 lakhs every year to this company.
