Indore: At the time when the state government is spending crores to improve standard of education in the state, severe staff crunch and lack of qualified staff are badly affecting the purpose of government. According to information, Government Higher Secondary School, Hatod has 500 students but only five teachers are available there to take the entire load of academic and non-academic activities at the school. No one is ready to listen their grievances as they claimed that even after forwarding request for appointment of more teachers, all fell on deaf ear.

On condition of anonymity, a school teacher claimed that most of the times students sat idle in their classrooms in the absence of teachers. She He alleged that the education department is busy in transfers affecting education in the area. “On the one hand, the authorities are making tall claims regarding improvement in education, on the other there is no transparent policy to meet the deficiency of staff in the government schools,” she added.

Teachers said that there was no shortage of teachers in the area but most of them are engaged in non-teaching activities and deputed in Indore, which is about 14-km from the village and now they are not ready to work here. When contacted school principal Shiv Sevak Mourya admitted staff crunch at the school. He also claimed that there is no staff for other non-academic job and we have to manage academic and non-academic activities with our staff only. Mourya further said that three teachers are promoted to the principal and they were shifted to other places, while one teacher was on leave since last one year and as a result, there is no expert teacher to teach science, commerce and arts subjects. How Can we give best results, asked Mourya.
