Indore: In a tragic incident, two women employees including technical engineer of an IT company were killed after a speeding container truck hit and overturned on them at Khajrana Square at 5 am on Friday. They were returning home after completing night shift work from the office when the accident took place.  The bodies were taken out from under the truck after one hour of labour.

The deceased identified as 24-year-old Nikita Waswani and 23-year-old Sumitra Kumari were employed in Vertisystem Global Pvt Ltd located on 9th floor of Shekhar Central building near Palasia Square. Sumitra was technical engineer in the same company. A speeding container truck coming from Bengali Square hit their scooter. As a result, the women fell on the road. The speed of truck was high and therefore driver lost control. The container overturned on women who died on the spot.

The local residents and passersby immediately informed the police and tried to take women out from under the truck. The police team from Khajrana and MIG reached there. The bodies were taken out with help of crane.  Later, police identified the bodies and informed their parents.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Nikita was from Jabalpur and was staying in the city for four years in a rented accommodation in Ganesh Nagar area with Sumitra who belonged to Sidhi. Nikita’s father is a trader of electronic items while Sumitra’s father is employed in a private company.

Police said the bodies were handed over to the family members while a case has been registered against the truck driver. A search is on to trace him. The accident led to traffic jam in the area. The police had to barricade one side road for traffic. Efforts to remove truck from the road were on till evening. As a result, commuters faced difficulties while passing through the area till late evening.
