Indore: A day after a vehicle of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) snatched life of a Class X student, municipal commissioner Manish Singh on Tuesday issued an order for installation of speed governors in vehicles owned by the corporation.
Singh also appointed deputy commissioner and workshop incharge Lokendra Singh Solanki as nodal officer for monitoring speed of vehicles on daily basis.
The municipal commissioner stated that speed limit devices would be installed in all the vehicles of IMC. “Speed governors will be fitted in all vehicles of IMC be it a dumper, tanker or garbage collecting vehicle,” he said.
The IMC would get speed controlling devices fitted with the help from RTO. GPS machines are already fitted in vehicles of IMC for monitoring their locations. Now, GPS machines will be connected to speed governors so that if any vehicle of IMC found crossing the permissible speed can be traced.
“Disciplinary action will be taken against errant driver,” the municipal commissioner said adding that the errant driver could even be terminated. An engineer of IMC has been tasked with compiling of GPS report daily and submitting the same to the nodal officer. On Tuesday, class X student Somya Muchhal was run over by an IMC vehicle near Footi Kothi Square.
