Indore: The price of milk will go up by Rs 2 per litre from Wednesday, February 1. Indore Doodh Vikreta Sangh has announced the hike on Tuesday.
Decision to hike the price was taken at the executive committee meeting of the Sangh held here on Tuesday. It was presided over by Sangh president Bharat Mathurawala.
Mathurawala informed that currently customers who were paying Rs 40 per litre and Re 1 as home delivery charge per litre would now have to pay Rs 42 per litre and Re 1 service delivery charge for milk with fat content of 5.5 to 6 per cent.
He said that prices of a variety of fodder for cattle have risen and this, apart from a general reduction in milk production to the tune of 30 per cent, has forced the Sangh to hike the price.
He said that the Centre and state governments should take proactive steps to control the prices of cattle fodder and not to charge VAT on them.
