Indore: Alleging corruption in the department of ophthalmology in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, a senior professor lodged a complaint with Deputy Inspector General of Police on Monday.
The professor alleged that fake blindness certificates have been issued by the doctors working in Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital. He said that patients who were not blind were declared blind by the doctors. DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra has directed the CSP (Central Kotwali) BPS Parihar to investigate the matter and to submit a report.
Professor of ophthalmology in MGM Medical College Dr Sanjeev Agrawal, who approached DIG with complaint, submitted proofs of fake blindness certificates issued by the doctors in his department. “Many doctors, especially junior ones, don’t know anything about treating a patient and they are issuing fake certificates. Moreover, the certificates are not issued in proper serial numbers, which leaves scope for manipulation,” Dr Agrawal told DIG.

He was removed from HoD post
Junior doctors of ophthalmology department went on strike on April 27 after a junior doctor Dr Rajesh was allegedly beaten by the then HoD Dr Sanjeev Agrawal.
Junior doctors had alleged that professor abused them. Whereas Dr Agrawal alleged that the junior doctors in the department don’t have required knowledge to treat patients. He had denied the charges of beating the doctor and said that he had only scolded him. Later, Dr Agrawal was removed from the post of HoD by dean Dr Sharad Thora.

“If Dr Agrawal has complaints, he should inform me first. He was removed from HoD post a month ago and I don’t know why he bypassed the college administration and approached the police. I will look into the matter and will initiate internal inquiry.”
