Unidentified persons attacked a couple, who were sleeping in their hut, with sickle on Thursday early morning. In the attack, 28-year-old man died while his wife received injuries. Police believe that the attacked was due to some old rivalry. Police are trying to trace the accused. Sanwer police station incharge MP Verma said that the incident took place around 4 am in a deserted area under Tatudia village. The deceased has been identified as Prakash Mankar, a resident of Omkareshwar.
He was a labourer and caretaker of a field and was staying in a hut with wife Sulochana since last two months. When they were sleeping, some unidentified persons reached there and attacked on Prakash repeatedly with sickles. When his wife woke up, the accused attacked her also, Verma said.
When she tried to save husband and cried for help, the accused fled the scene. She somehow took help of a person and informed the police. Police team of Dial 100 vehicle reached there and took Prakash to hospital but he could not be saved due to critical injuries.
Police said that the attackers were two in numbers and they might have attacked on Prakash over some old rivalry. Police believe that the attackers were from his village. The statements of his wife is being taken by the police to know about rivalry. She told the police that she could not identify the accused in the night.
