INDORE: Panic gripped Suryadev Nagar in Dwarkapuri after a 32-year-old man was shot by two to three miscreants in broad daylight on Wednesday. The assailants blocked the road by a case and fired on him. To make sure that he was dead, they repeatedly stabbed him before walking away from the scene.
The deceased was identified as Jacky Kardam (30). The police identified the assailants as Lokesh Lambhate and his accomplices. Jacky was going to his sister’s place on a bike when the attack took place. Jacky’s father, who was a few metres away from the crime scene informed the police about the incident. He later told the police, “After hearing gunshots, I turned back and saw Lokesh escaping in a car. Few more accused were also escaping in a motorcycle, while my son was lying in a pool of blood.”
Police suspect it to be a revenge murder and beginning of a gang war. Jacky was an accused in 2012 murder of Lokesh’s brother Rahul Lambhate. “Jacky was involved in the murder of Rahul Lambhate. He was killed following a dispute with Shiv Yogi over selling of illegal liquor in 2012. Jacky was released on bail in 2013, while other accused are still lodged in jail,” police said. Accused Lokesh took over the hooch business after Rahul’s death and was buying time to eke out revenge.
“We are investigating the case and preliminary investigations suggest that it is a murder for revenge. We will lodge a complaint on the accused after completing the investigating,” Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Rupesh Dwivedi said.
