Indore: The result of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) was declared on Thursday. Free Press talked to three toppers from the city to know their views. Excerpts

Change possible through legal action

“I come from a family of educators. I want to study law as there are many deformities in our legal structure. The only way to bring change is through legal actions. My parents (chemistry teacher Rajshri and school principal Rajesh Kulmi) supported my ambition and helped me in preparing for the entrance test. I love studying. I never get bored of studying so preparing for examination was enjoyable. It was my first attempt. I scored 95.8 percent in class XII CBSE board exam.”

Law suits his thought process

“I opted for science but I had no interest in becoming an engineer. I grew up in a disciplined environment where my parents did not put pressure on me to study a particular subject but insisted on following certain rules. Law suits my personality and thought process. I could not clear entrance test in first attempt. I worked hard and cleared CLAT and other law entrance tests this year.”

Law is a good field

“My father (Brijmohan Rai) is a government officer and I want to become an IAS officer. I feel law is a good field to study and learn. No one in my family is a lawyer. I would be the first lawyer and that makes everyone feel proud. I am very happy. We are leaving for Shirdi today to celebrate my success.”

Competition likely to increase next year

“Next year, the number of students attempting career in law is likely to increase by 20 percent. About 140 students are opting for law as additional subject in high school. This year, there was a technical glitch in the examination and students even filed a complaint requesting a re-test. But no action was taken. Despite this, students performed well.”
