Indore: City crime branch on Thursday arrested kingpin of an interstate thieves gang involved in stealing expensive cars. Police have also recovered six cars from the accused and started looking for his aides. According to ASP (crime) Amarendra Singh, during investigation the accused Ishtiyaq alias Nanhe (43), resident of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh informed police that he was lodged in jail earlier in a rape case and was out on bail.
Out from jail he further formed a gang of three including Imran and Imran Anhad in jail and started stealing expensive cars and selling them in Gujarat. The accused was earlier caught by the cops of Chandan Nagar police station in the city in connection with a car theft.
“The gang used to recce with his aides Ashik, Salman, Sameer, Pawan and Saud in Bhanwarkuan, Chandan Nagar, Kanadia, Lasudia Annapurna and many other areas of the city and on getting chance steal expensive cars including Verna, Honda City and others. They used to supply stolen cars to Manish Chowatiya and Naresh Chowatiya, residents of Surat in Gujarat and they get a share of Rs 15-20 thousand on delivery of each car,” Singh said.
The ASP added that Surat crime branch arrested Manish and Naresh for allegedly buying stolen cars from the accused. Manish and Naresh also used to prepare fake documents of the vehicles to sell it. A car which was stolen from Annapurna area was recovered from Ishtiyaq while Surat crime branch recovered five other cars from Manish and Naresh which were supplied by Ishtiyaq and his aides. Accused Ishtiyaq is being questioned for other such crimes and also for his accomplices. It is believed that more stolen vehicles could be recovered from the accused.
