Indore: The income tax department will launch two schemes to widen the tax collection and also add new tax payers. These schemes are Income Tax Enforcement Scheme and Aaykardata Vistar Yojana. Their launch date remain to be decided.

Indore region has shot to limelight after securing top position for recovering highest income tax collection in the country. The region has received gross tax collection of Rs 2,760 crore and after making refund of Rs 503 crore, net tax collection stood at Rs 2,257 crore, which is much more than 34% of the total tax collected in 2016-17.

Ajay Kumar Chouhan, chief commissioner of income tax Indore region, said under the first scheme e-assessment, rectification, penalty and audit of firms will be undertaken. Under Aaykardata Vistar Yojana, focus will be on salaried people and small traders. According to an estimate, there are several employees of state and central government departments whose annual income is more than Rs 2.5 lakh.

They get Form-16 from their employers who after cutting TDS issue it to employees. But after getting the Form-16, employees don’t file return. Similarly, there are thousands of small shops owners whose annual income is more than Rs 2.5 lakh but they don’t file return. All of them will be covered under Aaykardata Vistar Yojana.
