Ahead of the State assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the Centre on Wednesday announced to connect Indore and Jabalpur through a new railway line. It is an old proposal announced in railway budget in 2016. Survey was completed in March this year. The proposed line will start from Manglia in Indore to Budhni. From Budhni, the new line will join main track that goes to Narsinghpur and Jabalpur. The new line will provide basic infrastructure support for industrial development of surrounding area and will boost region’s socio-economic development.

-From city, it will start from Manglia, Nemawar Road, Bhokhakhedi, Aakhepur, Khedi, Borani, Deveri, Kannod, Sirsodiya, Khategaon, Pipliya, Bapcha, Balagoan, Nasrullaganj, Bargheu, Mathni, Barkheda, Ram Nagar, Sudon, Dobi, Baktra, Shivtala, Kothari, Bareli, Baigania, Aanwaria, Udaipura, Kelkachha, Banskeda, Aamgaon.
-The route will bypass 24 km long Ghat section of Budhani-Barkhed section, where a train runs with limited speed of 55 km per hour. On new route, it can run with speed of 120 per hour.
Will start next year
For the project, West Central Railway has been appointed as coordination agency and it would be completed by WCR and Western Railway. The survey of project has already completed by WCR in March, 2018, and drafting of the detailed project report is underway. It will be completed in next six months. Thereafter, tendering process will start.
