Indore: Owing to increasing traffic pressure at prominent squares of the city, Indore Development Authority has taken a decision to build an eight lane flyover at Pipliyahana Square and underpasses at Vijay Nagar and Shivaji Statue squares. Soon tender worth Rs 30 crore for Shivaji Statue Square would be floated, while detailed project report (DPR) would be prepared for the rest two.

The decision was taken in a board meeting of IDA here on Friday. Feasibility survey report prepared over possible construction of flyover and grade separator at prominent squares of the city was presented before the board. Survey was carried out in Pipliyahana, Vijay Nagar, Bengali and Tower squares. Subsequently the board gave approval for construction of underpass at Shivaji Square. The underpass will have one end at MYH side and the other at Aaykar Bhawan side. This would be attempted to be prepared in nine months. Similarly an underpass would be built at Vijay Nagar Square and an eight lane flyover will be built at Pipliyahana Square. The board gave approval for preparation of a detailed project report of proposed Vijay Nagar underpass and Pipliyahana flyover. Though feasibility survey at Tower and Bengali squares were also received by IDA Board, no decision was reached.

In another decision, the board decided to hand over the vacant buildings built for members of lower income group under JNNURM at its scheme no. 155 to Indore Municipal Corporation for allotting them to affected residents of Rajmohalla-Bada Ganpati Road widening project. Building would be taken from IMC or it would be adjusted with dues from IDA.
