Indore: Adding flexibility to their body movements, a group of fitness enthusiasts gathered at Meghdoot garden to learn ‘Zumba’ from certified trainer Aarti Maheshwari. The group regularly practices aerobics and works on building muscles.
Bringing Bollywood and Latin inspired choreography that helps lose weight, Aarti explained differences between workouts and choosing the best one. “It is a wonderful idea to cross-train and let your body decide what it prefers, but most of the time, we stick to our routine because we believe in ‘no pain no gain’,” she said.
Showing simple dance moves, Aarti demonstrated that fitness should not mean pain. “Aerobics aims at building muscles while Zumba works on weight loss and movements,” she said. Citing an example, Aarti shared that pain in muscles while picking up weight means tearing them. “All your instructors must have always explained that pain is a sign to stop; so we should find something that does not pain and works on the body,” she said.
Sharing another difference between the workouts, Aarti talked about formats. “Aerobics will make you feel stronger and give your muscles strength to compete, on the other hand, Zumba works as mood enhancer and gives flexibility,” she said. Teaching the gathering some fun steps before the active workout, Aarti explained, “Follow your body and let go to movements on music.” She explained that love and understanding of beats is must for zumba.
Boosting energy levels, Aarti taught them fun dance steps on latest Bollywood songs in an hour-long session. Easing movements, she yelled, “Dance is about you, your choices so let go!” Group of middle-aged enthusiasts felt rejoiced after the session and some discovered zumba as their perfect workout.
