Indore: Depressed woman falls to death from 5th floor of multistorey apartment

Indore: A panic like situation prevailed in Ocean Park Township, located in Lasudia Police Station area, on Monday morning when a 40-year-old woman jumped to death from the fifth floor of a multistorey apartment. The victim lived in flat number 508. She was depressed following her botched up relationship with her husband and also by illness. Police have also recovered a suicide note from deceased flat which suggest about her being in depression.

According to police station in-charge of Lasudia area, TI Santosh Kumar Dudhi, “The deceased was identified as Anupama Gupte who committed suicide by jumping from the balcony of her flat in Ocean Park Township.” The incident took place at about 10.30 am following a dispute between the deceased and her mother.

“She had a dispute with her mother Yeshwant Choudhary over some petty issue in which she had pushed her mother and attacked her with a spatula. Later, she locked herself in a room and jumped out of the balcony after few minutes,” Dudhi said. The TI added that Anupama had taken divorce from her husband about two years ago. Local residents said that she had a bitter relationship with her husband as he used to doubt on her character. He (husband) has also started living with another woman in Noida which doubled her depression.

“We have received some pages from her flat in which she mentioned about her ill relationship, arthritis and her struggle in life since the death of her father,” the TI added. She was found clutching on to a piece of paper which didn’t have anything except blood stains. “Prima-facie, it seems that she took the harsh step under depression. We are investigating the matter to know the exact reasons,” the TI added. Deceased’s daughter Sanika is studying in Mumbai.
