Indore: Complex surgery saves patient’s life

Indore: Doctors of Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital (MYH) on Saturday saved life of a 35-year-old man by removing his dentures, which was stuck in his oesophagus after an accident. Doctors from four departments of the hospital played important role in saving the patient’S life following a complex surgery which lasted more than three hours.

According to surgeon Dr Alok Dubey, the patient, a resident of Indore, was admitted to the hospital about two days ago with problem of pain in his chest. “The patient had met with an accident about a week ago and his dentures were missing. During various investigations, it was diagnosed that his denture got stuck and damaged his oesophagus,” the surgeon said.
Initially, a laparoscopy was done by the doctors but in vain after which unit head Dr Sumit Shukla decided to conduct open surgery.

“Dr Ankur Maheshwari, Dr Avinash Guatam, Dr Ankur Jain, Dr Sonu and I performed the surgery under the supervision of Dr Sumit Shukla and removed the denture of about 3 inches and a tooth from the patients’ oesophagus,” he said.
Dr Brijesh Gupta and Dr Kaushal Kabir had administered anaesthesia under supervision of Dr KK Arora. Patients is healthy and recovering now
