Indore: Creating the green corridors for saving several lives on the 23rd time, city doctors also scripted a record for heart transplant for the second time in the city on Wednesday.?
Heart of 42-year-old brain dead Archana Doshi was transplanted to a 43-year-old male patient in Medanta Hospital while her liver was transported to Choithram Hospital and kidneys were transported to Bombay Hospital and Greater Kailash Hospital for transplantation.
Archana Doshi, a resident of Mandsaur, was suffering from brain hemorrhage and she was shifted from a hospital in Mandsaur to Indore on July 23. However, her conditions deteriorated during treatment and she was declared brain dead on July 25.
On the motivation of family members and friends, Archana Doshi’s husband Rakesh, a grocery merchant in Mandsaur, decided to donate her organs. Her lungs and pancreas couldn’t be retrieved as there was no recipient.
They played major role in successful transplantation
Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey led the process and coordination with the help of Indore Organ Donation Society secretary Dr Sanjay Dixit. Activists of Muskan Group Jeetu Bagani and Sandeepan Arya managed to convince and encourage the family members and coordinated with the administration for successful transplantation.
Doctors of Choithram Hospital, Medanta Hospital, Bombay Hospital and Greater Kailash Hospital managed the surgery successfully. Similarly, cops of traffic police also played an important role in managing the traffic.
Second heart transplant in city
It was for the second time in the city that heart of a brain dead patient was transplanted to another patient. Earlier, heart of a brain dead patient Veena Pariyani was transplanted to a patient in Medanta Hospital on March 11.
